The Movie Paradise

2014 has been quite a year for The Movie Paradise. It was only eight short months ago that we started, and since then, we have published over 200 articles and have just crossed 1,500 page views. When we crossed 1,000 page views, just at the beginning of December, I wrote a special article (read it here) where I talked about how this blog was simply a hobby and how it was been humbling and honoring to see so many people engaged and interested in it. Movies has always been a passion of mine, and being able to share with the world my thoughts and opinions have been liberating. Though eight months is not long and 1,506 page views is not many, I am proud that I have gotten here. There are movie news sites and YouTube channels that have millions of subscribes, but to me, just having one person who is legitimately interested in what I have to say is mind blowing. Ever since the release of the trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron (read that article here), fans have been going crazy wondering what the film has in store for us. We know that the origin for Ultron has been changed. In the comics, Hank Pym (Ant-Man) creates Ultron. However, since Ant-Man won't be introduced until a few months after the film in his own outing, the movie universe will see Tony Stark (Iron Man) create the villain. With that much known, as well that the Vision will appear, many have wondered... will the origin of the Vision be changed too?
In the comics, Ultron creates the Vision to show his dominance. While this could work well in the movie, the fact that Paul Bettany will be playing the hero has left some question marks. Bettany previous voiced J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony's A.I. Is the Vision a version of J.A.R.V.I.S.? With new promo art out, we get some answers to these questions.

Edge of Tomorrow was one of the biggest surprises of 2014. The trailers made it look to be a really bad, science fiction film, but it actually turned out to be a fun, action movie. It made my top ten of the year (you can read that article here). One of the best parts of it was Emily Blunt. She was a kick-ass heroine that wasn't subject to being a sex object in the movie (granted that one reference, but you know what I mean). She was fantastic in this movie, and right now, she's the number one pick for being in a superhero movie.
We know she was approached twice by Marvel to play first Black Widow (currently played by Scarlett Johansson) and Peggy Carter (currently played by Hayley Atwell). While doing press for her newest movie Into the Woods, Blunt was asked about her turning down the roles.

I've said many times how much I love the Sam RaimiSpider-Man movies. To me, they really encompass the main elements that make Spider-Man who he is. The struggle between being the hero and being a normal human being. Sure, they have some problems like any movie, but I love them, especially Spider-Man 2. However, the third is a different story. Now, I don't think it's the worthless piece of crap a lot of people think it is. There are enjoyable parts, and parts that work. It's just that a lot of it doesn't. It suffers from a lot of the same mistakes that the recent The Amazing Spider-Man 2 made... it's not that it had too many villains, it's just that they didn't develop them all the way it should have. They tried to stuff too much into it, and it ultimately collapsed. And no matter how bad the dance scene is, it is at legendary status! With the year 2014 ending, I thought I would take some time to reflect on this past year of film and even look towards the future at what lies ahead. From the best films of the year to the God-awful bombs we all want to forget, this has been an interesting year for movies. Some of our most anticipated films have met our expectations, exceeded them or have fallen short. So as we approach the next year which will, hopefully, hold an even better year for film, let's think about and remember the best parts of 2014.

Ant-Man has had a big question mark for some time. Since the departure of original director Edgar Wright, people have begun to suspect that the film was in trouble. But the movie seemed to get its act together, getting Peyton Reed as the director and finishing its shoot not too long ago. The movie will be Marvel's last entry into Phase Two, coming out just a few months after the highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron. With the release of the Avengers trailer just a few months ago, a trailer for Ant-Man has been suspected, and we might be getting one fairly soon.
According to the Alberta Film Ratings board, an Ant-Man trailer was classified on December 23rd. Usually a film's trailer is classified just a week or so before the trailer's debut, which could mean its release any time now. The board also said that the trailer is one minute, forty eight seconds long. Hopefully this trailer will come soon. We have had pretty much no marketing for Ant-Man, besides the test foota…

Probably one of the most memorable things from 2014 will be the controversy behind the release of The Interview. If you haven't been keeping up, the Seth Rogen/James Franco comedy was about trying to assassinate the leader of North Korea, Kim Jung Un. The country became angered and said the release of the movie would be a "declaration of war". But Sony proceeded with the release. Then, about a month away from the movie's release, the company was hacked by the "Guardians of Peace", releasing priceless information online. They also said that if Sony were to release The Interview, "9/11 style" attacks will be brought against any movie theater that showed the film. Sony then left the option up to theaters if they wanted to show the film or not. Many backed out, leading to Sony cancelling the Christmas release of the movie altogether.
