First Pictures for Goosebumps- Jack Black talks about the movie
I used to read Goosebumps books. I read a lot of them and they were fun because you could be a kid and get scared appropriately. So, I was interested when I first heard they were developing a Goosebumps movie. Then, I became even more interested when I heard that Jack Black was attached. In this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly (where we got our first look at The Avengers: Age of Ultron here and The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies here) we got a couple of stills from the new movie and some comments from Black about the movie.
From these pictures, we get a sense that the movie will have a good blend of humor and horror. The plot revolves around a kid moves in next door to R.L. Stein, the author of the Goosebumps books played by Black, and falls in love with his niece. The kid soon learns that the creatures of Stein's books are real and he keeps them trapped in his books. When the kid accidentally unleashes the monsters trapped in the books, he must team up with Stein and his niece to bring them down. On the movie's tone, Black says:
"Well, kids like scary movies, but you can't take them to what are big scary movies now where Satan comes out and bites your genitals off. Those movies can actually leave you mentally (scarred); that's not for kids. But kids still like to get a little thrill and a little danger, so you need projects like this."
If I watch this movie and if Satan bites my genitals off, I know who to blame. What do you think? Do you like the idea of a Goosebumps movie? Do you like the stills? Do you like Jack Black's comments? Leave your thoughts in the comments section.
