Weekly Box Office Round-Up: Ooga Chaka!

This weekend, If I Stay, When the Game Stands Tall and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opened. Let's take a look at this past week's box office.

#1 Guardians of the Galaxy- $17,202,212

In its fourth week, Guardians of the Galaxy made it back up to the number one spot after being dethroned by Turtles. So far it has grossed over $500 million dollars world-wide and is on its way to being the highest grossing movie of the summer. You can read our review here

#2 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- $16,725,447

On its third week, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has moved down to second place. The past two weeks it has been number one at the box office but this week Guardians got the upper-hand. It looks like for the next few weeks, these two blockbusters will be dominating the box office.

#3 If I Stay- $15,679,190

If I Stay took third place on its opening weekend. With it being based of a young adults novel and the star power of Chloƫ Grace Mortez. Let's see how it does over the next few weeks, though.

#4 Let's Be Cops- $10,810,533

On its second week, Let's Be Cops is in fourth. On a $17 million dollar budget it has already made around $45 million dollars domestically. Being the only R-rated comedy out now, it should have some sort of audience over the course of the weeks.

#5 When the Game Stands Tall- $8,381,509

On its opening weekend, When the Game Stands Tall came in fifth place. Despite being the only sports movie out now, it still didn't make much money. Let's see how it fares the next few weeks.

Let it be noted that Sin City: A Dame to Kill For wasn't on the top 5, but came in eighth place, making only around $6 million. Just to re-cap, #1 was Guardians of the Galaxy, #2 was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, #3 was If I Stay, #4 was Let's Be Cops and #5 was When the Game Stands Tall. Next week, the James Bond-esque spy thriller (starring a former Bond) The November Man opens, as well as the horror film As Above/So Below. I think that either Turtles or Guardians will take number one with the other at number two and The November Man at number 3.
