Weekly Box Office Round-Up: Gone Girl Hasn't Disappeared from #1

This past week, Dracula Untold, The Judge and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day opened at the box office. Last week, I predicted that Gone Girl would be #1 with Dracula Untold at #2. Let's take a look at this past week's box office.

#1 Gone Girl- $26,800,000

On its second week, Gone Girl was came in first place again this week. With Oscar buzz and great reviews, this movie has been attracting a lot of attention. I know that I saw it this weekend (you can read our review of the film here). I think Gone Girl is here to stay for a while at the box office. We'll have to see over the next few weeks.

#2 Dracula Untold- $23,457,000

On its opening weekend, Dracula Untold came in second place. Despite poor reviews, the film was under the brand name of "Dracula", it starred Luke Evans and it was the official start of Universal's Monster Cinematic Universe. I think this movie will be present in the top 5 for a few weeks and then drift off.

#3 Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day- $19,100,000

On its opening weekend, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day came in third place at the box office. It has a lot going for it since it's gotten decent reviews and is one of the few children's film out right now. Although, I hope it doesn't stick around in the top 5 because I don't want to have to keep writing that title!

#4 Annabelle- $16,365,000

On its second week at the box office, Annabelle came in fourth place at the box office. Right now its really the only horror film out now but when Ouija opens in a couple weeks, it'll be long gone. But I think it will already be off the top 5 by next week.

#5 The Judge- $13,330,000

On its opening weekend, The Judge came in fifth place. Despite having star power such as Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Vincent D'Onofrio and Billy Bob Thornton, its mixed reviews had an impact at its performance. What could have been a major Oscar contender has become what many are calling a disappointment. I don't think it will be on the top 5 next week.

To re-cap, #1 was Gone Girl, #2 was Dracula Untold, #3 was Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, #4 was Annabelle and #5 was The Judge.

Next week, the Brad Pitt war film Fury opens as well as the James Marsden romantic comedy The Best of Me. I think Fury will come in #1 with Gone Girl in #2.
