Captain America: Civil War- Promo Art; Martin Freeman Joins Cast
With the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron this weekend (read our review here), Marvel has been a hot topic as of late. And with all of this attention on them, news regarding Marvel's next film, Captain America: Civil War has been emerging. The film isn't due for another year, but we do know some things. Robert Downey Jr. will be joining the film and fighting against Chris Evans in a (loose) adaptation of the popular graphic novel. We also know characters like Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and most likely Spider-Man will also be involved in the film. But even though we are a year out from the movie, we have gotten our first look at the movie, at least in the form of promo art.
This art was released, showing the inevitable showdown between Iron Man and Cap, as well as the design for Tony's new suit:
I can't wait to see this movie. I think the ultimate fight is going to be awesome and is going to feel justified through teases and hints throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. I also like the new suit. While it isn't a huge departure from his other suits, it changes it up a little bit and gives us something a bit new and different to look at on screen. Overall, I really like the looks of these images, even though it's just promo art and now actual stills.
News also came out today that The Hobbit star, Martin Freeman, is in fact joining the film in an unspecified role.
I think this is great. While I have mixed thoughts on The Hobbit trilogy as a whole, Freeman was without a doubt the best and shining part of those films. He has a very distinct personality and comedy style that I think could play well into a Marvel movie. The question now becomes who he will play? I don't think Freeman is going to be a superhero or villain of sorts, but maybe a more regular person, like they did with Robert Redford in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It has also not been said how large of a role he will have, but Freeman is a considerable talent so I don't think they will waste him with a five minute role.
What do you think? Do you like the promo art for Captain America: Civil War? Are you glad Martin Freeman is joining the film? Are you looking forward to the movie? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
