Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice- Trailer 3
Just a couple days ago, a sneak preview for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice teasing the release of the third trailer on Jimmy Kimmel Live on December 2nd was put online. It was a great preview, which you can see here. I was obviously excited to see this trailer. This is one of my most anticipated films of next year, and the last trailer for the film was absolutely incredible! I had really high hopes for this new trailer.
It was a good trailer. I'd even say that it was a very good trailer. But it wasn't close to how great and how awesome the last trailer was. It had some really good parts in it. The beginning heated exchange between Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) and Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) was fantastic. Although, it was ruined by Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. I've defended his casting, as I've thought he could bring something new and different to the character. But he felt so out of place in this film. He was an over-the-top, ridiculous cartoon character. I hope he works better in the context of the movie, but in this trailer, he was just awful.
And then they went and showed Doomsday. It looks like they took Bolg's face from The Hobbit and put it on the Abomination's body from The Incredible Hulk. Take a look for yourself:
Yeah, that's pretty startling. So I'm not sold on the look of Doomsday, but I still think he's going to be a cool villain. He's something that Superman and Batman (and Wonder Woman) can beat around, but he'll also be a formidable foe for the future of the DC Universe. A lot of people are saying that Doomsday is being wasted for this film, but I disagree, assuming they use him right. Who says that Doomsday dies in this film? The way I see it, the three fight Doomsday and realize that there are threats out there larger than just one hero, so they set out to assemble a group of super-powered beings to fight threats larger than one individual... the Justice League. If used in that way, Doomsday can be great for this film and subsequent movies.
In the end, there were a lot of cool things in this trailer, but ultimately, it wasn't nearly as good as the previous trailer. That, however, does not dampen my excitement for the movie in the slightest.
