The Disaster Artist- Trailer 2
The Disaster Artist is a film that has quickly become one of my most anticipated movies of December. Directed by and starring James Franco, it tells the true behind-the-scenes story of how The Room, infamously known as the worst film ever put to screen, was made. The first trailer they put out, showing simply how the iconic rooftop scene was shot, was incredible. It was a fantastic introduction to this movie, and I found it to be absolutely hysterical. It honestly became one of my favorite trailers of the year. You can read my initial thoughts on that trailer here. But even then, I said I wanted to see a full trailer. Yes, I had loved the teaser we got, but I wanted to get a much better sense of the story itself. And today, we got just that. We now officially have our second trailer for The Disaster Artist.
This is a great trailer. I think I still prefer the first one, just because of the sheer simplicity of it. But here, we get what I had wanted, which was a look at the full story. My biggest take-away from this trailer is James Franco's performance. He has absolutely nailed the voice and mannerisms of Tommy Wiseau. When I was watching this trailer, I wasn't watching James Franco: all I saw was Tommy Wiseau. And that is an absolute accomplishment on Franco's part, because Wiseau is an incredibly hard character to lock down, and he has seemed to figure out how to do that, all while still directing the movie. I think we will be having very serious talks about James Franco getting a Best Lead Actor nomination at the Academy Awards later on down the road. The supporting cast also looks great. I'm excited to see Dave Franco and Seth Rogen in this kind of dramedy role, because it will allow their comedic strengths to shine through, while also turning in something a little more profound than just dick jokes. I think we have a major Oscar contender on our hands here. I think The Disaster Artist could sweep the board in terms of nominations, and that is mindblowing to think about. Everything we're hearing is that this movie is just as good as it looks, and I really can't wait to see it. I've said it before, but The Disaster Artist and The Shape of Water are my two most anticipated movies of December. Yes, more so than Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Crucify me if you want, but that's how I feel. December really just can't come fast enough.
What do you think? Did you like the second trailer for The Disaster Artist? Are you looking forward to seeing the film? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
