Avengers: Infinity War Crosses $1 Billion Dollars Worldwide

Last weekend, Avengers: Infinity War opened to huge numbers, breaking both the domestic and worldwide box office records. You can read more about that here. And its huge success is no real surprise. People are absolutely loving the movie, myself included. It is an incredible movie theater experience, and I had a blast watching it. You can read our full, spoiler-free review here. But when Infinity War beat Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens' record, I predicted there was another record it would break. I said that Infinity War would also beat The Force Awakens as the fastest film in history to cross a billion at the worldwide box office. The Force Awakens held the record with 12 days, and I said Infinity War would beat it in ten. Well, Infinity War just broke the record, having officially crossed a billion dollars at the worldwide box office in eleven days. Infinity War is the second 2019 movie to join the billion dollar club, after Black Panther did so a couple months ago. You can read more about that here. It's no surprise Infinity War crossed a billion; that was a done deal. And considering how big its opening was, it's not surprising to me that it ended up beating The Force Awakens' record. Now the question is whether or not Infinity War will cross two billion dollars. I think that it will. It has enough momentum right now to propel it towards that exclusive milestone, and I think it will have legs in the coming weeks. The question is whether or not upcoming summer blockbusters like Deadpool 2, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will slow it down and ultimately make Infinity War fall short.

Looking ahead, there are a few more upcoming movies that I think have a serious chance of crossing the billion dollar mark. No one is talking about Deadpool 2, and I think it has a legit chance. It all depends on how the movie is received. If it's just as beloved as the first one, then I think it will cross the billion dollar mark. If it's good, but not as good as the original, then I think it will cap off around $800-850 million worldwide. For the longest time, I never thought Solo: A Star Wars Story would be too successful at the box office. However, it is becoming more and more clear that it will make a lot of money, assuming that the film is good. I still have major reservations that it can cross a billion, but I won't rule it out at this point. Incredibles 2 has a serious chance of crossing a billion. The first one is seriously beloved, and there is a lot of hype surrounding this sequel. Only two other Pixar movies have crossed a billion-- Toy Story 3 and Finding Dory-- and I do think Incredibles 2 has a strong chance at becoming the third one to do so. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is another movie that I think it almost guaranteed to join the billion dollar club. The first one made $1.67 billion worldwide and, while I don't think Fallen Kingdom will make as much as its predecessor, I do think it will cross a billion. But that is one that could easily come very close without actually hitting the mark. Those are the ones coming out in the next couple months that I think we could hear have joined the billion dollar club, alongside Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War

What do you think? Are you surprised Avengers: Infinity War has crossed $1 billion dollars worldwide? What other 2018 films do you think will also join the billion dollar club? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
