Weekly Box Office Round-Up: Ouija Just Barely Crawls Ahead of Nightcrawler

This week, Nightcrawler, the 10th anniversary re-release of Saw and the thriller Before I Go To Sleep opened in theaters. Let's take a look at this past week's very slow Halloween box office.

#1 Ouija- $10,740,980

On its second week, Ouija came in first place. The low budget horror film has been first the last two weeks and has so far made $34 million domestically on a $5 million dollar budget. However, coming in first and making under $11 million means it was a very, very slow weekend at the box office.

#2 Nightcrawler- $10,441,000

On its opening weekend, Nightcrawler came in second place. For an indie film, coming in second place is fantastic and making $10.5 million opening weekend is very good. And this is a film that deserves to make money (you can read our review here). Hopefully, the movie can sustain itself at the box office for the next few weeks and make some money.

#3 Fury- $8,819,506

On its third week, Fury came in third place. The film has been doing pretty well at the box office the past few weeks. It has so far made about $60 million domestically on a $68 million dollar budget so it's making its money back. You can read our review of the movie here

#4 Gone Girl- $8,480,992

On its fifth week, Gone Girl came in fourth place. The movie has been hanging in there in the top 5, making over $136 million at the U.S. box office so far. I have no doubt that Gone Girl will stick around for at least a couple more weeks. You can read our review of the film here

#5 The Book of Life- $8,206,797

On its third week, The Book of Life came in fifth place. For an animated kids film, it has been doing rather poorly at the box office. It has only grossed $40 million domestically on a $50 million dollar budget. I don't think it will even be on the top 5 list next week.

To re-cap, #1 was Ouija, #2 was Nightcrawler, #3 was Fury, #4 was Gone Girl and #5 was The Book of Life.

Next week, the Christopher Nolan space opera Interstellar and the animated adventure movie Big Hero 6 open. I think Interstellar will come in first with Big Hero 6 in second and Nightcrawler in third.

What do you think of this past week's box office? What will come in first place next week? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
