Gambit Confirmed for 2016 Release

With other studios ramping up their comic book cinematic universes, giving us two to three films a year, other studios have been left in the dust. Sony has only access to Spider-Man, and have tried to set up their own cinematic universe. What's left is Fox Studios. They currently have the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties, which in of itself has a lot of characters and potential. This year will see the release of the rebooted Fantastic Four movie as Fox attempts the merge the two franchise. However, cinematic universes are all the hype right now, and Fox wants to get in on the game.

Right now, Fox has only been making regular X-Men films. Other than a couple solo Wolverine movies, Fox hasn't ventured outside of their X-Men films. But while 2016 will see the release of X-Men:  Apocalypse, we will also get out first non-Wolverine solo film in Deadpool. Now, it looks like they won't be alone.

The anticipated Gambit film starring Channing Tatum has got an official release date of October 7, 2016, making it the third X-Men related film to come out that year. With Marvel shifting to three films a year and DC following their lead, the demand for Fox to step up their game is eminent. I'm just surprised it's taken a wide variety of a franchise like X-Men to take this long to mine the potential they've had for so long. I'm looking forward to Gambit, but even more so for Deadpool.

What do you think? Do you like the release date? Are you looking forward to Gambit? What about Deadpool? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
