And Deadpool is Rated...
Today, Twentieth Century Fox revealed the rating of the upcoming Deadpool film. Much debate has been had over what the rating would be. Deadpool is a character that is naturally an R rated character between his ultra violent tendencies and his uncensored motor mouth. However, the film would be more financially successful rated PG-13, as there would be more people able to see it. Making it PG-13 would also make it easier to incorporate Deadpool into the larger X-Men universe. So the question became whether the studio would be willing to take a risk and stay true to the nature of the character, or take away an important element of the character for more financial gain. Fox revealed that Deadpool will, in fact, be rated PG-13.
Then this little video went online:
All I can say is... f*ck yeah! Deadpool is rated R! This is something I have been really hoping for but have been afraid that the studio wouldn't do it. It made sense on their part that they would make it PG-13, but this shows that they don't want to mess up the character again after X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They want to do this right, and to do it right, they have to make it R. I was already super excited for this movie, but the fact that it is rated R makes it probably one of my top most anticipated of 2016. Plus, let me say, the suit looks great. I loved the design in the picture, but it was great to see Ryan Reynolds moving around in it.
What do you think? Are you happy that Deadpool is rated R? How excited are you for the movie? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
